Job summary

Westlands Water District in California seeks an accomplished executive to serve as Deputy General Manager – Government & Public Affairs. You will provide strategic leadership for government affairs, legislative advocacy, public affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement, and external relations.

The position reports to the General Manager and may be headquartered in Fresno or Sacramento. Travel across the District service area, California, and occasional out-of-state travel is required, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a closely related field as listed in the qualifications.
• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible government affairs/public policy experience.
• At least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for government affairs, legislative advocacy, public affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement, and external relations.
• Represent the District before policymakers, regulatory agencies, industry organizations, stakeholders, and the media.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration, Agriculture, Environmental Studies, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field

Master's degree in a related field (desirable)
