Job summary

Capital One in McLean, VA seeks a Manager of Data Science and Optimization for Retail Bank to translate business challenges into mathematical models and scalable optimization solutions. You will lead cross-functional teams and deploy production-grade algorithms using Python and open-source solvers to improve decisioning across customer journeys.

Ideal candidates have strong experience with machine learning, relational databases, and open-source tools, plus a track record of delivering business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus 6 years of data analytics experience, or Master’s Degree plus 4 years, or PhD plus 1 year.
• Experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis (2+ years).
• At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning.
• At least 2 years’ experience with relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and solve complex problems by translating business challenges into structured mathematical problems.
• Build, test, and deploy production-grade optimization algorithms and simulation models.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to integrate optimization engines.
• Develop machine learning models through all phases from design to deployment.
