Job summary

Community College of Rhode Island seeks a chief data and research officer to lead data strategy and analytics across the college and statewide goals. The role focuses on integrated data insights, governance, and advancing research capacity for informed decision-making.

The successful candidate will align data systems with strategic plans, promote privacy and security compliance, and oversee governance, dashboards, and cross-sector collaboration to support student success and workforce outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public policy, education, sociology, economics, statistics, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in data systems, institutional research, or analytics.
• Demonstrated experience managing integrated or longitudinal datasets and leading cross-sector research initiatives.
• Strong understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., R, Power BI, Tableau, AWS).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & Integration: Coordinate and lead centralized data and research services, develop and execute strategic plans aligning data with college and statewide goals.
• Data Infrastructure & Governance: Oversee shared data warehousing, ensure security, scalability, and compliance with FERPA/HIPAA.
• Research & Analytics Coordination: Lead research across the college with dashboards, reports, and analyses for planning and accreditation.
• Operational Management: Coordinate staffing, budgeting, and software licensing across research teams.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Build partnerships and communicate data insights to policymakers and leaders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
