Job summary

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Business Data Governance Program Lead to drive enterprise data governance across business data domains and report KPIs to the executive steering committee.

You will partner with data engineers, stewards, and platform architects to design a semantic data model, manage the data catalog, and ensure metadata quality across Snowflake and source systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, Data Management or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data management or governance.
• Experience delivering enterprise data governance components.
• Experience with Collibra or Atlan.
• Ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority.
• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead data governance program and KPI reporting to executive steering committee.
• Translate executive alignment into operational momentum in data usage.
• Assess governance maturity and identify gaps in stewardship, data quality, and metadata rules.
• Collaborate with domain stewards to extend governance upstream to source systems and pipelines.
• Present status and recommendations to steering committee; sequence quick wins.
• Design, launch, and run a Data Steward Council with cadence and accountability.
• Oversee data catalog ownership and metadata quality across platforms.
• Contribute to semantic model design and governance processes.
• Foster data fluency through curricula and community activities.
