Job summary

Construction Specialties, Inc. is hiring for a Credit & Collections Specialist to evaluate creditworthiness and establish lines of credit for commercial customers.

You will monitor delinquent accounts, communicate with clients, and coordinate with management on difficult cases, including lien and waiver processes. Applicants should have 3–5 years in commercial credit within construction or manufacturing, plus AA degree or equivalent and strong ERP skills.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
• 3–5 years of dedicated commercial credit and collections experience.
• Experience in construction, subcontracting, industrial manufacturing, or building materials.
• Knowledge of mechanic’s liens and lien waiver processes.
• Proficiency with major ERP systems.
• Strong negotiation, communication and client relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and compiles credit information using defined procedures.
• Maintains reports on credit risks in granting or reviewing credit.
• Evaluates credit worthiness and establishes customer lines of credit.
• Mails letters to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
• Contacts delinquent customers by phone to determine reasons and terms.
• Confers with supervisor on difficult cases and resolutions.
• Documents all customer inquiries to ensure accurate data.
• Records financial status and collection activity.
• Prepares liens, waivers and notices to owners or lenders.
• Processes claims in bankruptcy or legal proceedings.
• Assists in confirming receivables and bad debts.
• Sorts and files correspondence.
• Grants extensions of credit as appropriate.
• Prepares status reports on credit and collections.
• Assists with year‑end audit and EMS conformance.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
