Job summary

Orange County's Federal Credit Union seeks a Commercial Credit Underwriter for Real Estate and Small Business. The role analyzes and underwrites CRE, lines of credit, asset-based lending, and equipment financing, with a focus on risk and relationship-driven decisions.

The candidate will review financial statements, rent rolls, appraisals, and market data, guiding credit decisions with strong judgment and collaboration. 3+ years CRE underwriting required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial underwriting experience, including commercial real estate.
• Strong foundation in financial and tax analysis.
• Navigate complex credit structures and regulatory requirements (FNMA, FHLMC).
• Experience with credit analysis tools (Sageworks/Abrigo is a plus).
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Owns work with care and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite investor and owner-occupied CRE transactions.
• Review rent rolls, operating statements, appraisals, environmental reports, and market data.
• Underwrite C&I and small business credit relationships, and treasury management products.
• Analyze global cash flow across borrowers, guarantors, and affiliated entities.
• Structure loan terms to mitigate risk.
• Assign and recommend commercial credit risk ratings.
• Present recommendations to senior management and loan approval authorities.
• Evaluate covenant compliance and ongoing portfolio performance.
• Participate in annual review and portfolio monitoring activities.
• Identify emerging risks and recommend action plans.
• Analyze commercial loan participations and syndicated opportunities.
