Job summary

Citrus County Government in Lecanto, FL seeks a County Engineer to lead planning, design, permitting, and construction of transportation and stormwater projects. You’ll oversee major capital programs, supervise staff, and coordinate with state and regional partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience in transportation and stormwater infrastructure.
• Experience managing design, permitting, acquisition, and construction of major transportation roadway projects.
• Experience with stormwater design, traffic studies, site development, and pavement design.
• Supervisory and project leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Acts as County Engineer, responsible for engineering design, analysis, calculations, reports, and technical review for transportation and stormwater projects.
• Directs planning, design, acquisition, permitting, and construction of major capital transportation projects.
• Assists with division budget, CIP budgets, and maintains project records.
• Supervises staff, evaluates performance, and provides coaching.
• Leads consultants, engineers, designers, attorneys, and contractors; conducts project meetings.
• Prepares project work plans, cost estimates, schedules, specifications, and contract documents.
• Administers professional services and construction contracts; approves plans and permits.
• Oversees stormwater design and hydrologic studies; supports NPDES permit requirements.
• Interprets and enforces development codes and regulatory documents.
• Represents the County at public meetings and professional conferences.
