Elevate Human Capital is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to lead the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns in the Houston area. Under the Corporate Tax Director, you will develop tax plans, improve processes, and ensure timely compliance across jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in tax management or public accounting, CPA preferred, and strong skills in planning, research, and cross-functional collaboration with accounting and leadership teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive U.S. corporate tax knowledge across federal, state and local returns.
• Strong accounting, analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of tax code, compliance and corporate procedures.
• Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements.
• Experience driving process improvements in tax operations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with project management discipline and coordinate with the tax team.
• Independent work style with ability to communicate benefits of tax initiatives to stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• 5+ years in a tax manager or public accounting role; CPA preferred; proficient with Sage, Lacerte, ProSeries.

Responsibilities

• Manage preparation and review of federal tax returns and timely filing of tax forms.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of consolidated federal, state and local tax filings.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in tax procedures.
• Develop and implement strategic tax planning for federal and state taxes.
• Plan and coordinate return calendars with the tax team.
• Maintain control procedures over the tax process.
• Assist with IRS audits: responses, schedules, and documentation.
• Monitor tax regulation changes and advise management on impacts.
• Support internal audits and tax-related projects.
• Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly projections.
