Job summary

Oliver James Group is seeking a Corporate Controller in Stamford, CT, offering a flexible hybrid schedule. The role oversees accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory filings, reporting to the CFO, with strong executive exposure and opportunities to strengthen processes and controls.

You will lead month-end closes, NAIC reporting, audits, and Board reporting. The position requires 10+ years in insurance, knowledge of NAIC regulations, and a CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of insurance industry experience with leadership in Corporate Controller or equivalent.
• Experience with life insurance and annuity products preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NAIC regulations and US statutory accounting.
• Experience coordinating audits and reporting under US GAAP and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes across US GAAP and statutory accounting.
• Lead NAIC statutory reporting, including Blue Book filings.
• Coordinate annual statutory audits and support external auditors.
• Prepare management and Board reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Partner with investment, actuarial, tax and other teams for accurate reporting.
• Strengthen internal controls and drive expense efficiency.
• Support new product implementation and supervise the accounting team.
