Job summary

Save the Redwoods League, based in San Francisco, seeks a collaborative COO to partner with the President & CEO and lead enterprise operations across strategy, planning, IT, and People & Culture. The role emphasizes systems thinking, servant leadership, and a culture of safety and trust to advance ambitious conservation goals.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the COO will oversee Operations, IT, and People & Culture, working with an ~80-person organization to translate vision into action,

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in a COO or senior operations leadership role.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives to completion.
• Ability to design practical systems and processes adopted by users.
• Nonprofit/mission-driven experience is helpful but not required.
• Conservation experience welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the President & CEO and represent executive leadership when appropriate.
• Translate strategic direction into organizational priorities, frameworks, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead cross-functional planning across strategy, operations, safety, and culture with clear accountability.
• Manage workforce planning and organizational design in partnership with the Executive Team.
• Oversee information technology, facilities, and workplace operations to support staff productivity.
• Support landscape-scale conservation activities on League-owned properties with safety and compliance.
• Champion safety, preparedness, and shared accountability across office and field environments.
