Job summary

Save the Redwoods League seeks an experienced Chief Operating Officer to partner with the President & CEO, guiding strategic planning and organizational effectiveness. The COO will oversee Operations, Information Technology, and People & Culture, aligning staffing, budgets, and systems with the League’s Centennial Vision.

The role emphasizes equitable leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and sustaining momentum through complex conservation initiatives in California.

Qualifications

• At least five years in a COO role or comparable senior ops leadership.
• Proven ability to partner with a President/CEO and drive organizational performance.
• Strong project-management and systems-thinking capabilities.
• Experience leading growth, complexity, and organizational change.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted partner to the President & CEO, advising on risks and opportunities.
• Translate strategic direction into priorities, frameworks, and measurable outcomes.
• Lead organization-wide planning across strategy, operations, safety, and culture.
• Oversee Operations, IT, and People & Culture, aligning staffing and resources with priorities.
• Champion equity, belonging, and accountable leadership across the organization.
• Support board governance materials and engage with the Board as needed.
• Lead safety, risk management, and field operations readiness across the organization.
