Solved is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the client accounting function for a portfolio of 5–7 businesses in Tampa, FL. You will oversee day-to-day accounting, guide a small team, and partner with business owners to deliver accurate financials and insights.

You’ll drive month-endClose, financial reporting, and KPI development while staying hands-on and mentoring staff across multiple client engagements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience in a Controller/Assistant Controller/CAS Manager or similar leadership role.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
Demonstrated month-end close and financial statement prep experience.
Understanding of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, AP/AR/payroll.
Experience managing accounting team members.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent Excel skills and ability to work across financial tech platforms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and client relationships.
Hands-on mindset when needed.

Responsibilities

Own the Accounting for a portfolio of approximately 5–7 clients.
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
Lead the month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
Review reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, AP, AR, payroll, and other accounting activity.
Maintain accurate balance sheets and resolve discrepancies.
Ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting and controls.
Develop and maintain accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
Coordinate with tax professionals, auditors, and external partners.
Stay hands-on and support the team as needed.
Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages.
Analyze performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
Develop and monitor financial KPIs.
