Job summary

Southside Electric Cooperative seeks an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the financial operations that support reliable electric service. You will work closely with the CFO, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls across departments.

You will guide the annual budget, provide decision support for capital projects, and mentor a growing finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, integrity, and service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Utility accounting experience preferred.
• 4+ years of supervisory experience leading people and teams.
• Strong technical accounting and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, audits, and internal controls to ensure accurate, timely financial information.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including financial statements, regulatory reports, account reconciliations, and analysis.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Guide annual operating and capital budget planning with department input and variance explanations.
• Provide financial analysis and decision support for capital projects, major purchases, and cost-management opportunities.
• Monitor financial trends, budget performance, and business activity for informed leadership decisions.
• Oversee cash management, banking relationships, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Provide leadership for purchasing and warehouse functions, procurement controls, inventory management, and coordination with accounting and work orders.
