•••••• is a nonprofit that provides the most comprehensive data and insights about the social sector. We have an opportunity for a Controller & Director of Accounting to oversee accounting operations and GAAP reporting, reporting to the COFO.

The role leads a six-person team, supports a $37 million operating budget and diverse revenue streams including grants and subscriptions. Remote work with annual in-person summits and quarterly executive meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 12 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Minimum 5 years supervising staff in accounting/finance.
• SaaS/subscription accounting including ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Strong nonprofit accounting principles & internal controls.
• Proficiency with NetSuite, Salesforce, Stripe, UltiPro, Avalara, Tipalti, Nexonia; PBCS a plus.
• Advanced Excel and AI to improve procedures.
• Excellent analytical, forecasting and financial modeling; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, payroll).
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Own revenue recognition across revenue streams per ASC 606/ASC 958.
• Oversee grant and contract accounting and funder reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Coordinate external audits and regulatory filings.
• Manage treasury: cash forecasting and banking relationships.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
• Drive process improvements using automation and AI.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning.
• Mentor accounting team; foster excellence and collaboration.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize efficiency.
• Stay updated on accounting standards and implement changes.
