Job summary

Smith County is seeking a Contract and Procurement Specialist to oversee contract development, monitoring, and vendor performance across county programs. You will prepare contracts, amendments, renewals, and related documents while ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and budgets.

You will coordinate with project managers, departments, legal counsel, and vendors, maintain databases, track expenditures, and support audits and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of governmental procurement processes and compliance.
• Ability to review contracts for accuracy and regulatory alignment.
• Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and vendors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and administer contracts, amendments, renewals, purchase orders, and related agreements.
• Maintain contract and procurement information in applicable electronic systems and databases.
• Assist departments in developing scopes of work, solicitations, contracts, and related documents.
• Communicate with vendors, departments, staff, and legal counsel regarding contract requirements.
• Track expenditures and verify invoices align with contractual terms.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, notices, and contract summaries.
• Assist with audits, budgeting, public records requests, and government reporting.
• Monitor contract compliance and vendor performance; address issues with departments.
