Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking a Compensation and Payroll Maintenance Specialist to join our 45-member Human Resources team. You will lead compensation reviews, classify positions, coordinate payroll maintenance, and act as SME for onboarding new hires and internal job changes.

Starting pay range is $67,080 to $78,000, with a standard 8–5 schedule. Extensive benefits are offered, including health/dental/vision, disability coverage, and paid leave, in a collaborative county department environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional experience.
• Onboarding and compensation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with compensation reviews to develop salary recommendations for hires and promotions.
• Oversee job description database and ensure accurate classification alignment.
• Coordinate payroll maintenance and onboarding processes.
• Support special classification and compensation projects.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Education, Staff Development, or related field
