Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Experience working with local government, business and civic leaders and community organizations.
  • Ability to communicate the value of science and technology to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of local and regional governmental structures and decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Have primary responsibility for the Laboratory’s local and regional community and government relations operation, including developing and implementing engagement plans.
  • Coordinate with OGEA’s federal and state government engagement operations as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key local elected officials and their staff, educating them on LLNL initiatives.
  • Provide community relations support to environmental cleanup and sustainability programs.
  • Lead in facilitating responses to local government, business, and community information requests.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues to meet Laboratory goals.
  • Represent LLNL in local organizations, community settings, and events.
