Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Community and Regional Relations Advisor to advance engagement with Tri-Valley and surrounding communities. The role spans local government, business and civic leaders, coordinating with federal/state teams and educating officials on LLNL's science initiatives.

The position requires a DOE Q‑level clearance, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to work in a hybrid setting with some days at home.

Qualifications

Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Experience working with local government, business and civic leaders and community organizations.
Ability to communicate the value of science and technology to diverse audiences.
Knowledge of local and regional governmental structures and decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

Have primary responsibility for the Laboratory’s local and regional community and government relations operation, including developing and implementing engagement plans.
Coordinate with OGEA’s federal and state government engagement operations as appropriate.
Develop and maintain relationships with key local elected officials and their staff, educating them on LLNL initiatives.
Provide community relations support to environmental cleanup and sustainability programs.
Lead in facilitating responses to local government, business, and community information requests.
Identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues to meet Laboratory goals.
Represent LLNL in local organizations, community settings, and events.
