Strategic Communications Strategist Level 2

We are seeking a Communications Strategist to join our team and support the Air Force’s AFWERX program with strategic planning, project management, and communication expertise. The candidate will work directly with the Air Force Program Management Office (PMO), demonstrating strong communication skills and experience with brand management. The Level 2 strategist will provide mentorship and expertise within a team of communications and event personnel.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leveraging expertise in branding and communication strategy to support AFWERX engagements.
  2. Developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies aligned with organizational goals and brand management, in collaboration with program leadership.
  3. Planning and executing communication projects, managing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder collaboration.
  4. Creating engaging content for various platforms, such as social media, blogs, reports, and presentations.
  5. Leading branding initiatives to ensure consistency across all communications.
  6. Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and media contacts to ensure cohesive messaging. Travel will be required for networking and outreach.
  7. Assessing communication efforts and providing data-driven insights for strategy refinement.
  8. Offering strategic insights and product recommendations to meet performance goals.
  9. Monitoring industry trends and audience insights to keep strategies relevant and effective.
  10. Identifying process improvements to foster collaboration across organizations.
  11. Evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommending improvements proactively.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in program management or related areas, preferably within military or government contexts.
  • Experience in narrative extension across media channels to achieve communication goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and evaluation techniques.
  • Strong decision-making skills in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Secret clearance required.
