Job summary

The McKnight Foundation seeks an experienced communications manager to advance the Foundation’s mission through strategic communications. You will work with the communications director and colleagues to deliver high-impact narratives, tools, and campaigns that align with our Strategic Framework.

Based in Minneapolis, this full-time exempt role offers opportunities for professional development, cross-team collaboration, and responsible stewardship of communications assets across digital platforms

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and seven+ years in communications at a managerial level.
Experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related field at a managerial level.
Ability to supervise and collaborate with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

Support external communications needs of the organization, including new grantmaking direction.
Supervise editorial operations of digital platforms (website, email, social, third-party sites).
Manage media relations, issues monitoring, and brand stewardship.
Respond promptly to external requests from grantees, reporters, and stakeholders.
Support the board and senior leadership on institutional initiatives and governance materials.
Advise the communications director on plans, policies, and staff resource needs.
