IDEA (Islamic Development & Empowerment in America) is seeking an Assistant Director of Communications based in the Alexandria, VA Office. This position leads the communications and media relations team to advance the organization’s mission and impact.

The role requires strategic leadership, exceptional communication and project management skills, and a commitment to IDEA’s values, with international travel as needed to support programs and events.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in related fields; Master’s preferred.
• 7–10 years in communication and media relations with increasing responsibility.
• 3–5 years direct supervisory experience leading teams.
• Mastery of humanitarian and development sector, crisis management and project management.
• Strong leadership with ability to mentor and coach staff.

Responsabilidades

• Lead IDEA's communications and media relations team and align with Executive Team.
• Stay informed on global humanitarian developments and US needs.
• Manage daily operations, KPIs, editorial workflows, and budgets.
• Serve as primary liaison with internal teams to ensure aligned messaging.
• Engage media to promote IDEA’s work and impact in humanitarian sectors.
• Develop crisis response protocols and reactive statements.
• Identify external vendors and manage relationships.
• Design and implement strategies to address internal and external communication needs.
• Evaluate communications protocols and recommend improvements.
• Report progress to upper management and stakeholders.
