Job summary

City of Austin’s Austin Communications and Engagement (ACE) seeks a Strategic Communications Consultant to guide citywide outreach, advise executive leadership, and coordinate with ACE and other departments to ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across projects and initiatives.

The role involves leadership in planning, development of communications plans, and public information campaigns across print, digital, and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Advertising or related field plus six years of related work experience.
• Master’s Degree may substitute for two years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements short- and long-term communications strategies and performance metrics.
• Provides strategic communications guidance to internal customers and stakeholders.
• Develops and leads communications plans and programs with departments and project representatives.
• Develops project budgets and guidelines.
• Provides leadership on imaging, branding, and marketing of events and activities.
• Coordinates design, writing and editing of marketing materials for internal and external audiences.
