Job summary

State of Missouri's Office of Workforce and Community Initiatives seeks a communications leader to manage internal and external public information and coordinate with the executive team. The role is located in the Cole County/Jefferson City OWCI Office and at 3705 Missouri Blvd, Jefferson City, MO.

A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience are preferred. The position involves drafting correspondence, developing strategic plans, supervising staff, and ensuring clear information

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Substitutions may be allowed.
• Desirable qualifications include a bachelor’s or advanced degree with specialization in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism; strong writing and editing skills; excellent attention to detail; strong computer skills; knowledge of, or experience with change management strategies; and, experience which includes a comprehensive knowledge of public information with a large organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic communication plans to support the division’s mission, goals, and objectives.
• Build and foster relationships with OWCI leadership and staff.
• Draft success stories highlighting participant success from OWCI.
• Create and update One-Pagers detailing OWCI programs.
• Compile and submit information for the weekly Governors Report.
• Serve as the designated point of contact for OWCI media inquiries.
• Organize and send out information related to events and employers through the Gov. Delivery system.
• Assist in drafting response material or distributing information.
• Plan, organize, and conduct a formal needs assessment and analyze/report the results.
• Develop and update a comprehensive communications plan based on identified agency needs and priorities.
• Manage and supervise staff.
• Maintain the division’s internal website.
• Design and deliver presentations.
• Write and edit informational materials.
• Direct and coordinate a wide variety of communication activities for major FSD initiatives.
• Work with staff at all levels.
• Maintain a basic knowledge of FSD’s programs and policies.
