Job summary

GovExec is seeking a strategic communications professional to elevate external visibility and executive positioning across government, technology, defense, and public sector landscapes.

You will collaborate with leadership, marketing, editorial, events, research, and sales to shape narratives, pursue thought leadership, and expand GovExec's market presence.

This role emphasizes proactive media engagement, cross-functional partnership, and data-driven storytelling to strengthen GovExec's authority.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years in public relations, strategic communications, media relations, or executive communications, in-house or agency.
• Experience supporting B2B, government or defense sectors preferred.
• Proven ability to support proactive media outreach and executive visibility initiatives.
• Strong writing, editing, messaging, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset with cross-functional communication skills.
• Experience supporting announcements, thought leadership, and communications initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of external communications and PR strategy across corporate initiatives, flagship events, research, and market priorities.
• Assist with executive positioning, including media engagement, speaking opportunities, messaging development, and thought leadership.
• Develop messaging aligned to GovExec’s brand and growth priorities; prepare talking points and presentations.
• Coordinate media interviews, contributed content, speaking engagements, and awards submissions.
• Support reactive media inquiries as needed.
• Partner with marketing, editorial, research, product, sales, and events to align communications.
