Job summary

Curry County, NM seeks a Communications & Events Coordinator to develop, coordinate, and implement strategies that promote transparency, public trust, and awareness of county programs and initiatives. You will craft the employee newsletter, prepare materials, and manage social media pages, press releases, and public records requests as assigned.

The role reports to the County Manager and requires strong writing, organizational, and digital publishing skills to engage employees and residents

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong writing and oral communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Mail and Canva or other publishing software.
• Ability to communicate effectively with large and small groups.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English, both written and oral.
• Must transcribe material from dictation and format properly.
• Knowledge of website design, maintenance and social media required.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and implement communication strategies to promote transparency and public trust.
• Create and manage the employee newsletter and publish materials.
• Post and maintain county social media pages and issue press releases.
• Assist with public records requests as assigned.
• Collaborate with County Manager, department heads and staff to promote county initiatives.
