The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi in Milwaukee seeks a Director of Communications to shape how the congregation shares its mission, ministries and Franciscan values.

The role blends storytelling, media relations, publications and digital content to connect the Sisters with the wider community. You will lead production of monthly newsletters, oversee Troubadour magazine, manage social media and the website, and guide external messaging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or communications is required.
• Experience placing editorial content with media outlets and arranging interviews.
• Experience in creating social media content.
• A minimum of five years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Writes and oversees the monthly email newsletter for the congregation.
• Collaborates with human resources on monthly employee newsletter.
• Manages editorial staff of the biannual Troubadour magazine; develops themes with leadership and oversees production schedule.
• Emails weekly “Hotline” informational emails to Sisters, Associates, and department leaders.
• Photographs all congregation events and maintains digital photo files.
• Assists advancement department with creative input and editing of written materials.
• Supervises Creative Services Specialist.
• Directs external messaging for the congregation.
• Develops and maintains media relations.
• Maintains congregation website and social media platforms.
• Other duties as assigned.
