Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Technical Commodity Manager to embed with engineering and manufacturing teams, driving end-to-end supplier lifecycle from bid packages to supplier readiness for high-rate production. You will optimize sourcing, competitive events, and contract management while collaborating across programs.

The role emphasizes cost-down, dual-sourcing, and AI-enabled procurement workflows, with travel up to 25% for supplier visits and audits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in supply chain, engineering, or program management in manufacturing.
• Experience with NPIs and production readiness validation including run-at-rate.
• Strong collaboration and clear communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing & supplier management: build bid packages with requirements and evaluation criteria.
• Lead competitive source selection events and onboard suppliers with capability validation.
• Drive supplier readiness through PPAP, tooling acceptance, and run-at-rate validation.
• Validate capacity for high-rate production and dual/tri-source strategies.
• Conduct make/buy/where trade studies to support decisions with engineering.
• Negotiate contracts and manage LTAs/MSAs with pricing and capacity commitments.
• Embed with engineering and manufacturing; report status and risks to leadership.
• Define AI-driven procurement templates and oversee automated processes with human-in-the-loop.
• Continuously improve templates and workflows to compress cycle time.
