Job summary

Magna International Inc. is seeking a Strategic Commodity Buyer for the Americas (Resins/Plastics/Paint) based in Troy, MI.

You will support the Global Purchasing Organization by developing and implementing commodity strategies, leading supplier negotiations, and coordinating with Engineering, Production, and Logistics to secure optimal value. The role requires 3–5 years in automotive purchasing, exposure to resins/plastics/paint, and ~20% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 3–5 years in automotive/manufacturing purchasing.
• Experience with electronics, resin, injection molding, fasteners, or assemblies is preferred.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~20%).
• Familiarity with IATF16949 and ISO14001 policies and environmental management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement commodity strategies with Global Commodity Director and Regional Lead Buyer.
• Manage RFQs and evaluate supplier cost structures for best value.
• Lead supplier negotiations and establish long-term supply agreements.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Production, and Logistics.
• Drive cost savings initiatives and risk mitigation within the commodity segment.
