Job summary

Nexxta is a U.S.-based manufacturing partner with four Great Lakes facilities delivering precision, speed, and scale. The Commodity Buyer owns sourcing strategy across an assigned commodity, manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and terms, and ensures materials are available on time to support production for automotive, industrial, and medical customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field.
• Experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain, preferably in manufacturing.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel; familiar with quality system requirements (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 13485) is preferred.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and cost-modeling skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for the assigned commodity category across all Nexxta facilities.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supply agreements with suppliers to reduce cost and protect supply.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers; evaluate existing suppliers on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
• Place and manage purchase orders and release schedules to support production requirements and keep inventory at target levels.
• Partner with plant operations, planning, engineering, and quality to forecast demand and resolve material shortages, delays, and quality issues.
• Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks; recommend actions such as consolidation, alternate sources, or pricing adjustments.
• Support new program launches and customer-specified material or supplier requirements, including quote and cost-model inputs.
• Track and report savings, spend, price variance, and supplier performance to the Director of Purchasing.
• Maintain accurate supplier, item, and pricing data in the ERP system and purchasing records.
• Ensure purchasing activity complies with company policy, quality system requirements, and customer and regulatory requirements.
