Job summary

MISUMI Americas seeks a Strategic Solutions Engineer - CNC to join our solutions team in San Francisco. You will guide customers through DFM/DFA, production readiness, and cost-optimization while applying CNC expertise to multi-axis milling/turning and casting.

The role blends engineering advisory with hands-on CAD work, cross-functional collaboration, and travel 30–40% to support production-scale programs. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 6+ years of experience in manufacturing roles such as CNC machining and casting.
• Strong expertise in CNC processes (milling, turning, multi-axis) and casting.
• Experience with DFM, cost optimization, and manufacturability trade-offs.
• Ability to travel 30–40%.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100D.
• Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication.
• Hands-on CAD work and reverse engineering as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted technical advisor for strategic CNC manufacturing customers.
• Lead technical scoping discussions translating requirements into manufacturable solutions.
• Support prototype to production transitions and identify manufacturing risks early.
• Perform detailed DFM/DFA reviews for CNC components.
• Evaluate part geometry, tolerances, GD&T, materials and finishes.
• Provide cost optimization recommendations based on process choices.
