Job summary

BGS Consulting seeks a Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) to lead clinical informatics for a Federally Qualified Health Center in the Washington, DC area. The CMIO aligns clinical operations with health IT to improve care quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes using ECW and related systems.

The role bridges clinicians and IT, oversees training and change management, and guides strategic technology investments with a focus on population health and value-based care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with active clinical license; board-certified.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of clinical informatics or EHR optimization experience.
• Experience in community health, CHCs, or FQHC settings.
• Strong understanding of population health, UDS, value-based care, and PCMH.
• Expertise with EHR systems and clinical workflow redesign.
• Strong communication, leadership, and change-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive optimization of the EHR (ECW) to improve usability and workflow efficiency.
• Serve as the primary liaison between clinical teams and IT.
• Develop and maintain clinical decision support tools, templates, order sets, and care pathways.
• Support UDS reporting, PCMH requirements, HEDIS measures, and value-based care initiatives.
• Lead interoperability (HIE participation, FHIR integrations, referral workflows).
• Lead training for providers and manage change during upgrades and new modules.
