Job summary

Nexagen Networks seeks a Configuration Manager to lead the enterprise CMDB for a DoD satellite communications portfolio, designing a modern Jira-based CMDB architecture across a complex System of Systems. This strategic role focuses on sustainable processes, governance, and enterprise integration rather than maintenance.

The ideal candidate has strong Jira/Confluence CMDB design experience, DoD background, and excellent stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years in a lead configuration management role with CMDB implementation experience.
• Minimum of two complete CMDB implementations from requirements through deployment.
• Experience establishing CM processes and CM workflows, not just executing existing ones.
• Background in DoD, aerospace, or complex systems environments.
• Strong experience with Jira and Confluence CMDB design and implementation.
• Experience architecting Configuration Items, relationships, baselines, versioning, and change-control processes.
• Strong stakeholder communication, training, mentoring, and organizational change-management skills.
• DoD Secret Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a CMDB in Jira for a multi-domain System of Systems environment.
• Architect Configuration Item taxonomy and identification schemes.
• Establish baseline management frameworks and versioning strategies.
• Develop relationship mapping enabling impact analysis and dependency tracking.
• Create systematic change control workflows integrated with item management.
• Design change classification schemes with governance and approval structures.
• Establish configuration audit frameworks for compliance and quality assurance.
• Implement lifecycle tracking for proactive technology refresh planning.
• Train and mentor users on CM tools and methodologies.
• Build stakeholder alignment and drive adoption through expertise and value.
