Job summary

The City of Oak Harbor seeks an experienced finance professional to manage its general accounting functions and lead the preparation of the Annual Financial Report. You will supervise accounting staff, coordinate with the State Auditor, and ensure GAAP compliance across all financial activities.

Responsibilities include audits, capital planning, project accounting, and internal controls. A CPA/CPFO and government experience are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or Public Administration.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or Public Administration is desirable.
• CPFO or CPA certification desirable.
• 5–7 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, budget, and internal audit; government setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and cash management activities.
• Supervise staff responsible for financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable, grants, fixed assets, and general ledger.
• Coordinate annual financial reporting process with the State Auditor and other agencies.
• Lead annual audit processes and respond to audit findings.
• Develop and update long-term capital plans and assist CIP processes.
• Educate staff on GASB and GAAP requirements and ensure compliance.
