Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission - Office of CIO is seeking a Corporate Chief Information Security Officer to provide strategic leadership for the enterprise cybersecurity program. Reporting to the CIO, the CISO protects information assets and critical systems while enabling public services across the bi-county offices.

The role directs governance, policy, risk, and incident response and collaborates with executive leadership, legal, audit, procurement, and departmental

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; 10+ years IT security experience.
• Information security certifications such as CISSP or CISM are preferred.
• Experience leading enterprise cybersecurity programs in a public sector or regulated environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise cybersecurity strategy, governance, and risk management aligned with organizational goals.
• Oversee security operations, incident response, and resilience across bi-county corporate offices.
• Coordinate audits, compliance, and third-party risk management with internal and external stakeholders.
• Guide identity, cloud, architecture, and technology security across major platforms including Workday and Microsoft 365.
• Direct security awareness, budget planning, and leadership of cybersecurity staff and contractors.
