Greater KC LINC, Inc. is seeking a Chess Instructor to foster strategic thinking, problem-solving, and a lifelong passion for chess among students of all ages and skill levels.

You will design and deliver engaging lessons, nurture a supportive learning environment, and monitor progress to guide growth. Responsibilities include developing curricula, conducting in-person and virtual sessions, organizing tournaments, and providing constructive feedback to help students improve their understanding

Qualifications

  • Proven experience playing chess at intermediate/advanced level (tournaments or rankings).
  • Experience teaching chess to children or adults in educational or recreational settings.
  • Strong communication and ability to explain complex concepts patiently.
  • Ability to create lesson plans and adapt teaching strategies to diverse learning styles.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement structured chess curricula for different age groups and skill levels.
  • Conduct individual and group lessons, both in-person and virtually, covering fundamentals, tactics, strategies, and advanced concepts.
  • Organize and oversee chess tournaments, practice sessions, and workshops to provide practical experience and foster competitive spirit.
  • Evaluate student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of chess theory, teaching methodologies, and educational tools to enhance lesson quality.
