Job summary

Greater-Kc-Linc is seeking a Chess Instructor to design and deliver engaging lessons for beginners to advanced players in the Kansas City area. The role focuses on developing strategic thinking, problem-solving, and a passion for chess among students of varying ages.

You will conduct both individual and group sessions, organize tournaments, and continually assess and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Proven chess proficiency at an intermediate or advanced level with tournament or ranking evidence.
• Experience teaching or coaching chess to diverse age groups in educational or recreational settings.
• Strong communication skills to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
• Ability to design lesson plans and adapt strategies for different learning styles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement structured chess curricula for different ages and skill levels.
• Conduct individual and group lessons, in-person and virtual, covering fundamentals, tactics and strategies.
• Organize and oversee chess tournaments, practice sessions, and workshops.
• Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback for growth.
• Stay up-to-date on chess theory, teaching methods, and educational tools.
