Job summary

NextFifty Initiative seeks a Director of Finance and Accounting to lead all financial, accounting, and tax activities for the organization. Reporting to the CEO, you will manage budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, benefits, audits, and regulatory compliance, working closely with the Board’s committees.

The role emphasizes nonprofit accounting, equity-centered management, and building strong internal controls to support grantmaking and mission impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 8+ years of accounting experience, nonprofit experience preferred.
• Experience with nonprofit financial reporting and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Manage assets of ~$225 million and financial activities of the organization.
• Develop, manage and monitor the annual budget and report metrics.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements per GAAP.
• Oversee payroll and employee benefits enrollment.
• Serve as liaison to Investment Committee and manage investments.
• Oversee annual audit and tax filings.
• Ensure internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee bank accounts and AP/AR operations.
