Job summary

Zapp Talent Strategies, in the Houston area, seeks a senior finance leader to own day-to-day accounting and financial operations while engaging as an executive voice. This hands-on CFO role includes monthly board reporting, M&A due diligence support, HR/benefits oversight, and contract/legal coordination, with a lean team and one direct report.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in accounting/finance, MSP/IT services or tech consulting exposure, and a CPA or MBA is a plus.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
Controller or CFO-level experience
MSP/IT services or technology consulting industry experience preferred
Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
Experience supporting M&A due diligence and evaluation
Lean, hands-on environment with direct ownership of core accounting functions
Experience presenting to Board of Directors or executive leadership

Responsibilities

Own and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls
Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis
Lead financial due diligence and support M&A evaluation
Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy
Oversee HR, benefits administration, and support contract/legal review as needed
Manage and mentor one direct report
Support transition to a new company-wide CRM/operations platform
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
