Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the accounting and finance team for a nonprofit organization in Albuquerque, NM. This on-site, permanent role requires a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial leadership position and offers relocation assistance.

You will drive budgeting, forecasting, GAAP compliance, grant management, and strategic financial planning while reporting to the board and collaborating with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; advanced degree or professional certification (such as CPA or CFA) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role, with a proven track record of success.
• Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP.
• Experience with financial and accounting software applications.
• Strong leadership skills, with an ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with an ability to clearly convey financial information to a non-financial audience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic approach to financial management.
• Experience in grant management and funding oversight.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership and Organizational Oversight: provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, optimizing bank and deposit relationships, and initiating strategies to enhance cash.
• Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Management: develop and execute budgeting and financial forecasting in line with organizational goals.
• Financial Reporting and GAAP Compliance: oversee production of timely and accurate financial reports and GAAP compliance.
• Grant Management and Funding Oversight: manage and oversee all grants, ensuring proper usage and reporting.
• Personnel Leadership and Policy Implementation: lead the finance team, foster learning and implement finance policies across the organization.
• Contract Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: ensure financial contracts and grants meet legal requirements and policies.
• Board Reporting and Executive Advising: report financial results to the board and provide expert advice on financial matters.
• Community Relations and Public Representation: represent the organization with partners, donors, and the public.
• Program Development and Operational Planning: contribute to new programs with financial insights and projections.
• Audit Coordination and Financial Controls: coordinate audits and maintain accountability and controls.
