Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) seeks an entrepreneurial, visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to drive financial strategy during a high-growth phase. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO leads governance, reporting, and strategic financial planning for a $300M capital project and scale to 361 Central Park West.

The role requires expertise in non-profit GAAP, endowment management, and capital campaigns, with strong collaboration across departments and the Board.

Qualifications

  • Substantial CFO or senior financial leadership experience in a complex non-profit or cultural organization.
  • Endowment management and capital projects expertise.
  • Governance and board reporting experience with risk and capital matters.
  • Experience scaling organizations during growth or capital transitions.
  • CPA, MBA or equivalent advanced financial education.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic partner to CEO and leadership in building a scaled multi-site operation and doubled budget.
  • Lead financial strategy, forecasting, and risk analysis with the Board and committees.
  • Oversee $300M capital project and endowment stewardship to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Direct core accounting operations, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Evolve finance team and internal controls, promoting collaboration across departments.
