Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) seeks a Chief Operating Officer to partner with the CEO, overseeing operations, governance, and organizational scaling as we prepare for a major new museum opening. The role requires seasoned nonprofit leadership, budget oversight, and cross-department collaboration.

Based in New York, the COO will drive operational excellence, modernize systems, and guide staff through transformation while ensuring mission impact and financial sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience guiding large-scale nonprofit operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience scaling organizations through transformational change.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary strategic partner to the CEO and translate vision into scalable operations.
  • Oversee all functional areas and manage a budget aligned to growth objectives.
  • Present to the Board with transparent updates and data-driven insights.
  • Lead transition and scale efforts for new museum facilities.
