Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Category Purchaser to lead procurement for mechanical components across global operations, focusing on castings, forgings, assemblies and machine parts. The role emphasizes strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver value.

Qualified candidates have 2–5 years in category management or sourcing in an industrial setting, engineering background, and strong analytic and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
• 2–5 years of Category Management or Sourcing experience in industrial sectors.
• Experience in Engineering.
• Excellent analytical skills and data-driven decision making.
• Strong influencing and negotiations skills in a global matrix.
• Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Execute procurement activities for assigned categories and suppliers.
• Lead annual price negotiations and manage item data in ERP.
• Define supply strategies with cross-functional teams.
• Drive long-term cost reduction and support CCC sourcing.
• Develop and manage supplier relationships for delivery and quality.
• Provide sourcing insights to support sales and cost estimation.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and contractual standards.
• Monitor industry trends and identify new suppliers.
• Oversee inventory to support working capital and efficiency.
