Job summary

Kamehameha Schools Kapālama seeks a strategic and relationship-driven communications leader to serve as a trusted advisor to campus leadership, manage the overall campus communication strategy, and strengthen connections with students, families, alumni, and partners across Hawaiʻi.

The role collaborates with the enterprise Communications Group, advises the Poʻo Kula, mentors leadership, measures impact, and drives change management while navigating Hawaiian community contexts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Mass Media, Marketing, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of communications related program management experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Familiarity with Hawaiian cultural protocol.
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills including consistency and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strategic acumen to counsel leadership and craft messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with management and community.
  • Ability to speak publicly with confidence, including presenting to inform/influence.
  • Knowledge of social media and other platforms as communications vehicles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the communities served by the campus.
  • Strong knowledge of office software technology.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, manages, and implements the overall campus communication strategy.
  • Delivers executive thought leader platforms and strategic communications.
  • Coaches campus leadership in delivering strategic messaging to internal/external audiences.
  • Measures impact, gathers stakeholder feedback, and drives communications planning.
  • Advocates for resources to build the campus brand and collaborates with KS enterprise group.
  • Manages campus website and social media; coordinates media relationships.
