Job summary

University Budget Services CSU is seeking a Budget Analyst II to develop and administer campus budgets for departments, manage labor costs, and prepare financial reports. You will work under general supervision on budgeting projects and provide input for new programs and procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining budget models, performing data analysis, and coordinating with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.
• Experience may be substituted by an advanced degree on a year-for-year basis.
• Knowledge of budgeting policies, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers campus budgets for specific functions or departments.
• Assists management with position control, labor cost distribution, and budgetary control functions.
• Prepares budget-related reports and correspondence.
• Assists with monthly and year-end closing journal entries, including systemwide transactions.
• Supports fund balances, cash flows, enterprise fund budgeting, and reconciliations.
• Updates funding chart-strings in financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Excel).
• Processes labor cost distribution transactions and resolves discrepancies.
• Prepares materials to summarize, analyze, and justify budget programs.
• Conducts extensive financial data compilation, querying, organizing, and analysis.
