Job summary

Rock Energy Systems in Wisconsin (Janesville) is seeking a Buyer/Planner to acquire materials and services to support the production plan. You will manage source selection, negotiate terms, and coordinate with operations to ensure timely delivery and inventory control in a manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Materials Manager, you will maintain supplier relationships, monitor pricing, and support cycle counts, ERP/MRP activities, and quality improvements while ensuring costs, quality,

Qualifications

• Associate degree or commensurate work experience.
• Experience in purchasing for a manufacturing operation.
• Proficient with MRP/ERP systems and Excel; quality/continuous improvement experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and/or special tools; coordinates with operations for timely sourcing.
• Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; recommends suppliers based on cost, quality and delivery.
• Studies market prices and trends; considers engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements.
• Creates and maintains work tickets to support production scheduling.
• Provides reporting on production attainment to schedule.
• Interviews and confers with suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics and inventory control; negotiates terms with guidance from Materials/Operations Manager.
• Coordinates quality matters and engineering changes between company activities and suppliers.
• Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure timely deliveries; conducts regular cycle counts for accuracy.
• Establishes and maintains good vendor relationships; tracks and reports vendor performance.
• Works with vendors to ensure all components flow to support production and on-time shipping.
• Collaborates with department supervisors to ensure necessary components for production flow.
• Provides periodic support to shipping and receiving operations to ensure efficient material flow and deliveries.
