Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a procurement/sourcing professional in Kansas City, MO, to manage buying for defined product sets and ensure supply, quality, and on-time delivery. You will interface with external suppliers and internal Wabtec teams to optimize costs and inventory while supporting production demand.

The role requires strong ERP/MRP knowledge, supplier management experience, and the ability to work across functions to drive continuous improvement and cost-out initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years procurement experience.
• 5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with suppliers and PO management.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP and BOM concepts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate MRP to understand buy part supply/demand signals and create purchase orders.
• Establish stocking strategies and maintain planning parameters.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure purchase orders are acknowledged, PO dates are maintained and shipments are executed on-time.
• Expedite supplier parts when shortages occur or demand is short cycled; work with suppliers on recovery plans.
• Manage new supplier setup and supplier maintenance (HICX portal).
• Manage ERP Sourcing Rules and Quotation accuracy to facilitate Auto-PO.
• Daily communication with production on shortages and recovery plans.
• Control transportation costs to avoid premium air shipments.
• Right-size inventory by reducing excess and addressing shortages.
• Collaborate with Quality and Engineering on non-conforming parts; support inflation/deflation goals.
• Serve as primary accounts payable/receivable contact for your supply base.
• Maintain healthy inventory levels with the warehouse to meet demand.
