Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Senior Buyer / Senior Purchasing Agent to deliver end-to-end commercial and material execution leadership in a high-mix manufacturing environment. You will own supplier commitments, manage purchase orders, and lead negotiations to secure critical components for production.

The role demands strategic thinking, supplier leadership, and cross-functional collaboration with Planning, Operations, and Engineering to mitigate risk, reduce cost, and ensure on-time delivery

Qualifications

• 12+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in complex manufacturing environments.
• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Own purchasing execution across multiple commodities and suppliers.
• Monitor MRP, shortages, open orders, and demand; ensure material arrives for production.
• Generate and manage purchase orders per demand signals and approvals.
• Lead supplier negotiations, strategies, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Confers with vendors to obtain price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Identify suppliers based on quality, capacity, and financial analysis; select based on criteria.
• Enter PO follow-up and supplier promise dates into ERP system.
• Create RFQ packages and coordinate with engineering and supplier base.
• Maintain procurement records: costs, delivery, quality, and inventories.
• Escalate and resolve issues with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
