Job summary

Markforged, a leader in digital manufacturing, seeks a Senior Buyer contractor to support internal and external production sourcing. You will craft sourcing plans, qualify suppliers, and expand supply options for critical development programs, collaborating with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure timely availability of materials and cost efficiency.

Ideal candidates bring strong category management, supplier evaluation, and negotiation skills, with experience across LEAN/Six Sigma practices

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, preferably in business or a technical discipline.
• 2-5+ years applied experience as a Senior Buyer with category responsibility and $5M+ spend.
• Demonstrated sourcing experience with commodity and category focus.
• Supplier evaluation and leading bidding for strategic selection.

Responsibilities

• Develop sourcing plans and strategies for assigned categories or key spend areas.
• Support supplier qualifications and subcontracted processing services.
• Identify, evaluate and develop new supply sources for critical needs.
• Drive continuous improvement in quality, service and cost.
• Negotiate pricing and contracts with supply partners to ensure best costs and productivity.
• Manage critical direct source vendor relationships.
• Support purchases of critical development material and expedite as needed.
• Help manage vendor risk by identifying exposures and mitigation plans.
• Develop strong value-based relationships with key supply partners.
• Recommend process improvements including quality, efficiency, inventory and cost.
• Execute direct material purchase orders for internal and external manufacturing.
• Analyze and purchase components with supply risk or on-allocation to protect delivery schedules.
