Job summary

Alamo Group Ag Americas, LLC in Selma, Alabama is seeking a Buyer to join the Purchasing and Materials Planning team. The position requires evaluating suppliers, negotiating terms, and maintaining accurate ERP data for production materials.

You will support morning production meetings, launch new products, and manage supplier performance while aiming to optimize costs and delivery. A bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field is preferred, with 5+ years of manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing supply chain experience, including purchasing and scheduling.
• Professional supply chain certification or working towards (CPIM, CPSM).
• Competent with ERP concepts and JDE ERP system is preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Focus, communicate, encourage and contribute to Safety in all aspects of the job and all company meetings.
• Enter and update supply chain parameters, purchase orders and all pertinent information into the JDE ERP system. Evaluate and manage exception reports weekly.
• Support morning production meetings; be prepared with answers to the greatest extent possible.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight terms and other cost-related issues with suppliers; obtain manager approval when needed.
• Ensure pricing and supplier information is updated in the JDE ERP system.
• Identify and market test commodities with alternative suppliers; source new suppliers as needed.
• Coordinate with Bush Hog Quality to collect 8D information when issues occur and implement corrective actions.
• Lead launch activities for new products via Stage Gate; confirm ISIR, volumes, timing, and supplier readiness.
• Manage inventory levels to meet company objectives and track delivery performance.
• Identify and execute saving projects; track PPV vs budget and justify price changes to management.
• Conduct all business professionally and minimize risk and cost exposure with approved contracts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
