Job summary

Core-Mark, a leader in fresh and broadline solutions for the convenience retail industry, is seeking a Buyer to partner with sales and division leadership. The role focuses on viability assessments of new products, vendor research, proposals, and program implementations to create value for vendors and customers alike.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of buying, planning, sales, and allocation experience.
• Experience in procurement and category management.
• Ability to analyze data to inform purchasing decisions.

Responsibilities

• Review and maintain inventory levels to support turns and customer needs.
• Maintain promotions, plans, and allowances in mainframe systems.
• Communicate with suppliers to arrange POs and assist with invoice approvals.
• Identify and resolve inventory conditions with creative solutions.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across categories.
• Monitor financial performance of assigned categories and vendors.
• Collaborate with suppliers on marketing programs and promotions.
• Develop performance metrics and goals for suppliers.
• Provide category leadership to shape the product portfolio for customers.
• Negotiate terms with suppliers to optimize costs and value.
• Provide analysis and recommendations on products based on market trends.
• Monitor developments and market activity to inform decisions.
• Stay informed on Core-Mark policies and relevant regulations.
• Prepare reports related to buying and inventory.
• Travel as required by the role.
