Job summary

Wesco is seeking a Buyer to place and authorize purchase orders, expedite orders, and track deliveries while keeping accurate records. You will support inventory availability and minimize working capital through strategic replenishment and supplier collaboration.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field and at least 1 year of purchasing experience, with strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills to drive efficiency and cost savings across the supply

• 1 year of purchasing experience in a supply chain environment.
• Knowledge of purchasing and inventory concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Strong computer skills with purchasing and inventory management systems, programs and reports.

Responsibilities

• Place and authorize purchase orders within assigned limits.
• Expedite orders and track deliveries.
• Maintain accurate records according to guidelines.
• Review daily purchasing reports and system recommendations to determine quantities and items to purchase.
• Ensure inventory availability while minimizing working capital.
• Execute stock replenishment, special orders and drop ship buying efficiently.
• Ensure accurate PO quantities, costs, and terms.
• Manage EDI, ASR/VMI, emailed and faxed orders with suppliers.
• Follow up on order status and delivery information.
• Review supplier shipping error notices and take appropriate action.
• Negotiate with suppliers to return excess or inactive inventory.
• Assist managers in evaluating supplier performance (delivery, fill rates, costs).
